    "ACA Update - The Facts and Fiction"

    The announcement on July 2 delaying a portion of the ACA until 2015 is creating confusion for employers and for employees. This presentation will discuss the facts and fiction of the delay, the requirements to comply, and the role of HR in supporting employers and employees today and in the future.


    Jennifer Konvalin, CPA, Partner at Ketel Thorstenson

    Jennifer joined Ketel Thorstenson in August 2006, after being a partner at a public accounting firm in Idaho, was promoted to Tax Manager in January 2007 and named Tax Partner in January 2011. She specializes in business and individual tax returns, with an added emphasis in the medical industry. She also has an extensive background in agriculture related industries and has worked on various litigation support projects, including testifying in court. Most recently, Jennifer has gone through extensive training and research as it relates to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and is the team leader for the Ketel Thorstenson ACA Niche group.  Jennifer attended Montana State University and graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Business with an emphasis in accounting. Jennifer is a member of the South Dakota CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

    Mary Ann Pembroke, SPHR, Human Resources Manager at Ketel Thorstenson

    Mary Ann joined Ketel Thorstenson, LLP in 2012 after more than 20 years of experience in the life insurance industry. She has broad experience in strategic management to optimize human and financial resources. Mary Ann brings a common sense approach to her work as a manager and a consultant. She strives to bring out the best in an organization, and the best in an individual.  Mary Ann is a member of the Ketel Thorstenson ACA Niche group. Mary Ann attended the University of South Dakota and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources designation from SHRM, and has been a twenty-year member of the BHSHRM.
